Pregnant with a beautiful background of nature

Hello and Welcome! thank you for visiting us to learn more about how support is becoming accessible to our community through health care benefits recognizing the positive impact of doula's in a time of life that has long gone unsupported.

We are a group of trained and Certified Non-Medical Support for every step of the way from pregnancy and preparation, birth, and after baby arrives.

How are doula's different from Midwives, OB's, Nurses?

Midwives OB's and the Labor and Delivery team focus on caring for you and baby's health as medical providers. In the hospitals they are caring for many patients, you may have not met them before, and if it's busy they have limited time to spend with you during your birth and change with each shift. There are wonderful and caring medical birth professionals in our area.

When I had my first baby I didn't realize I would have a time where my communication changed and I would be birthing not thinking and talking, just subtle cues and very few words. When we are birthing talking and thinking can take us out of our rhythm. This is where the assistance of a doula would have improved my birth experience with my partner and team.

Doula's have more one-on-one time with you before and after baby arrives, you can text and call them with concerns celebrations, or worries, they go on call 24/7 for your birth and dedicate to be with you for the entire birth (either a phone or video call, on the sidelines as a presence if needed, or actively supporting you) We are trained to focus on your emotional, mental, and physical well-being. I see a doula role as a reliable and dedicated personal assistant for you and baby that can drop in with you in good times and hard times.

A good number of visits are covered by insurance for Pregnancy, Birth, and after baby arrives to 1 year of age. There is also extra support for when things don't go as planned and we would love a message from you please click here for our 24/7 on-call line and more info on bereavement support.

Mendocino Coast Doulas invite you to explore the benefits of having a certified doula support your vision in any or all of the steps of your journey in pregnancy, birth, life after baby arrives. If you are eligible for Medi-Cal Partnership, Kaiser Commercial and Medi-Cal, Some Health Net plans all doula services will be covered at no cost to you. We are out of network providers for Blue Shield and Anthem and can check to see what your cost will look like if you have a deductible.

Research shows having a doula can improve Birthing parent and baby outcomes. I have found it also really improves the experience for the birthing partner if they are attending the birth.

Our goal is for you to be seen, heard, empowered, advocated for and connected to resources that match your unique personal journey. â€‹

A doula can be there for you in many ways, learn all the different services a doula may provide.

“doula guidance in perinatal care was associated with positive delivery outcomes including reduced cesarean sections, premature deliveries, and length of labor. Moreover, the emotional support provided by doulas was seen to reduce anxiety and stress.”
